What you'll find here
- The recruitment jigsaw
- The recruitment process is explained. This could be described as a
pipeline, but it's not strictly linear. Elements of recruitment go back
and forth. For instance, your search for employees in your database may
be unsuccessful, thus requiring advertising which takes you back to
candidate screening. Additionally, there are two
major entry points, namely the clients who pay your bills and the very
important human element of the actual people themselves who make up your
workforce. Here, I coin the term "recruitment jigsaw" and show what's
involved.
- My checklist for great recruitment software
- There's a lot of software out there. Much is good, some is not so
good. Here's a comprehensive list of what I think makes great
software. Obviously, you want recruitment software to handle data entry
of employees but have you considered timely response speed? Have you
considered how many payslips you will need to process? Have you
considered tricky employee agreements that pay variable rates based on
when the hours were worked? Here's the standard by which recruitment
software can be objectively compared.
- Open Recruitment
- Time to put theory into practice. I get no end of people asking if I
know of a database they can use. I used to say I did, but they were all
commercial or proprietary. No more: here's Open Recruitment,
my very own recruitment software package that you can use and
distribute. It's free. And it's good!
- Other relevant software
- Even though I think Open Recruitment is pretty good, it might not
meet your needs or suit your architecture. And, definitely, if you have
the budget, there's really high quality enterprise software. Here's a
detailed list of free and commercial recruitment software.
